Happy June! I’m so happy it’s summer! Despite how much summer homework I have over these ten weeks, I’m thrilled to have more reading time. And more time to do things overall (without school taking over every part of my life). Without further ado, let’s get started with what I did this month!
This month, I read a total of 10 books, of which were quite diverse, I think. I read two required summer reading books (THE CRUCIBLE and 1984), some ARCs, and some backlist books I had been interested in for a while!
REVIEWS:
For 2016, I signed up for 4 year-long challenges. You can see my overall progress here.

- I also participated in the 2016 Debut Authors Bash, hosted by YA Reads in which I interviewed with Laura Tims, author of Please Don’t Tell.
- I participated in two blog tours for Hannah @ Irish Banana Review for There Once Were Stars by Melanie McFarlane, Changes Places With Me by Lois Metzger, and Lucky Few by Kathryn Ormsbee!
- I also decided to join the Make Me Read It Readathon so you can vote for what I should read; polls are still open!
- I posted my book haul from the past couple of weeks: A Winter’s B(Haul)
- Additionally, I admitted a few Literary Tropes That I (Secretly) Enjoy.
- I decided to create some wallpaper graphics for FIRE FALLING by Elise Kova for the Crystal Tour!
- I wrote a little tutorial and some tips for requesting physical ARCs.
- Finally, I participated in my only TTT this month: my Top Ten Favorite 2016 Releases So Far This Year!
For July, I’m planning to read NEVERNIGHT, an ARC I requested from the publisher. I’m actually 30 pages in so far, but I put it down to read THE LONE CITY series. I’m also thinking of reading some backlist books from Harper’s fall catalog before I go into fall 2016 ARCs!
- My birthday is July 2nd, so you’ll be getting a giveaway that day! Two actually! 🙂
- I’ll be interviewing Emily France, author of SIGNS OF YOU for Sunday Street Team on July 10th.
- On July 20, I also will be hosting Sonya Mukherjee, author of GEMINI, who will be presenting something super exciting!
A busy month! Thank you for adding a guide in for requesting ARCs. I’m still not sure how to appropriately do that! I look forward to the reviews on Jewel and White Rose. I’ve been considering easing them but I’m unsure at the moment.

How did you like 1984 as far as required reading goes? I always wonder how people like the books we get in school. I’m also excited to see what you thought of Nevernight since I’ve only seen one review so far.
Here’s my monthly recap: http://ltlibrarian.com/june-round-up/

I liked 1984, surprisingly! It was boring at some parts but it definitely picked up and really made me think. I gave it a 3.5/5 stars!
I’ll be sure to post a review for NEVERNIGHT… so far, I really like it! Happy reading! 🙂

Yay! I really loved it when I read it, so I was curious. I agree about the occasional boring part for sure, but the overall message was great

It really surprised me how much I liked it! I tried to read the whole thing last summer but when I gave up 75% the way in because it just felt so tedious during the part with all the history…but I’m glad I finished it! 🙂

I CANNOT wait to read This Savage Song! I keep seeing people’s early reviews from arc copies and get so jealous! When I was at a signing for Victoria the girl in front of me in line got an arc of it in March. I was sooooo jealous.

Your June seems so eventful! I’m glad it was a good one. I fell into a bit of a slump on all fronts in June, unfortunately.

It pretty much comes out in a few days. I’m in no rush. I’ve seen some polarizing reviews for it though. You either really love it, or you don’t. I’m interested to see what my opinion will be! 😛

Truest is an all-time favorite of mine. I hope you love it! Feel free to link your how-to about requesting ARCs to the discussion challenge link-up – while some people may not consider it a discussion, exactly, I think it fits the spirit of the challenge. (And don’t worry about linking it up to the July linky instead of June – I’d love for people to see it!)

Ooh, thank you so much! I’ll be sure to do that ASAP! 🙂

Happy LATE Birthday!! I hear great things about Truest, so I hope you enjoy it. I really do want to read it. I want to read Nevernight as well. 🙂 I’ve never read 1984 (but I do recommend A Brave New World). I have read The Crucible for school though and I liked it. I’m fascinated by all that though.
