Hi everyone! Today we’ll be talking about what we read, reviewed, posted, and other IRL happenings!

As you can see, there’s been a bit of a change to our Monthly Recap posts from a few months ago. The graphics are definitely different, and we’ve eliminated a few sections. Let us know what you think of the new format!

Alice here! In July, I read 20 books (three of which were novellas) – here are my favorites from this month! If you want, you can check out everything I read on my Goodreads. I’m currently reading as much as I can because I know that once school starts, I won’t be able to read as much!

Hi y’all! It’s JM! July has been a very busy month for me in terms of work so I only read 6 books this month. I did read diversely, though, so don’t dismiss me just yet. *laughs* here are the books I read:

  1. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski // YA Contemporary. Bestfriends going on a European vacation. MC’s mother has Agoraphobia // ★★★.5
  2. No Second Chances by Kate Evangelista // YA Contemporary. Book #3 in Dodge Cove Series (but can be read as a standalone). Second chance love story. Love interest is a famous DJ. Filipina author. // ★★★★
  3. The Bye-Bye Bouquet by Chi Yu Rodriguez // YA Contemporary. #romanceclass title. MC is an owner of a flower shop. Good family dynamic. // ★★★★
  4. You Bring The Distant Near by Mitali Perkins // YA Contemporary. #OwnVoices. Multiple POVs, spanning 3 generations of lovely Indian Women. // ★★★★
  5. The Queen’s Game by Carla De Guzman // YA Contemporary. Modern Royalty Story. MC and LI are childhood friends. Badass princess to regal queen. // ★★★★
  6. They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera // YA Sci-fi + Contemporary. TEARS… TEARS… TEARS!!! (Haven’t posted my review yet, but I did post a Twitter thread about this here. // ★★★★

Hey bookworms, Jesse here with what I have been reading this past month. I’ve read 16 books!! Woooot wooot. July was a big reading month for me. Sadly I still have a lot of catching up to do for all my fall 2017 ARC’s. At least I have all of August to do so. Here were some of my favorite reads of the month and you can check the rest of what I read on my GoodReads. Got a little bit of a blue theme going on this month! Ha!

Our Dark Duet // What a fantastic ending to the duology. I know some fans weren’t that pleased with it, but I have no complaints. I think it couldn’t have ended any other way to be honest.

Perfect Ten // I fell in love with these little gay boys! I have never connected so well with any other character before. Sam wasn’t perfect, but so what? No one is.

What to Say Next // This was my first read with a MC with on the autism spectrum. I thought the author handled it beautifully and captured the essence of what it’s like to live with autism.

The Midnight Star // Another great ending to a series. Marie Lu can do no wrong in my mind. This was by far my favorite series from her.

The Rose and the Dagger // This seems to be the month for me to finish series. I fell in love with Ahdieh’s writing from the beginning. She knows how to weave a beautiful story.

Hello everyone; it’s Liv! I’m here today to tell you about all the books I read this month.

  • They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera//★★★★★
  • Because You Love to Hate Me by Ameriie (in collaboration with other authors and Booktubers)//★★★★
  • The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli (re-read)//★★★★★
  • Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde//★★★★
  • The Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke//★★★★
  • We Carry The Sky by Mckayla Robbin//★★★★★

It’s JM again, and the most noteworthy thing I did this July was host the third #BookwormsUnitePH meet-up. For those who haven’t heard of it yet, it’s basically a bookish shindig hosted by Filipino bookworms for Filipino bookworms of every variety (blogger, bookstagramer, readers of YA, NA, etc.) If y’all want to check out what happened, I have a recap ready for you here.

#BookwormsUnitePH 2017 Hosts + Attendees!

Hey bookworms, Jesse again. My summers are generally just filled with work related nonsense unfortunately. But on the plus side I did get to go camping at the beginning of the month. I also got to try Ghostbuster’s VR at a gaming center in downtown Toronto called The Rec Room just last weekend. It was seriously awesome vaporizing all those ghosts!

Jesse Went Camping
Pay no attention to my pale ass legs. Thank you.

Liv here! This month was rather busy for me. I moved from Oklahoma to Pennsylvania. Our furniture didn’t arrive until the 27th, and we moved in on the 6th. I’m just super thankful to have a bed to sit on now! We also took a trip to Ikea, so now I have double white bookshelves to store all of my children! 🙂

This is the only picture I have of my new room! It’s now painted blue and white with Christmas lights hanging.

  • JM//Pierce Brown, the bestselling author of The Red Rising series and the forthcoming book Iron Gold, will be coming to Manila for the annual Readers and Writers Festival. Of course, JM’s not going to let this chance to meet Pierce Brown pass him by, and he’ll have a recap for everyone to check out. (Don’t forget to look into his dreamy eyes! – Jesse)
  • Jesse//Traci Chee, Elly Blake, E.K. Johnston, Lindsay Smith, Tara Sim, and Sarah Tolcser will be doing a huge book signing, YA Extravaganza, in Brampton (near Toronto) this coming month. Jesse will be in attendance and is super excited to meet these amazing authors!
  • Liv// I somehow convinced my mom to take me to see one of my favorite in New York! It’s called Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812! I’m also meeting Gretchen of Chicnerdsreads while I’m there!
