Interview with Estefani @FictionJungle | #WTTN16

welcome to the neighborhood

Hi everyone! Today, we’re here with another new-ish book blogger! If you don’t know, WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD is a feature on my blog in which I introduce new bloggers through interviews and guest posts as well as a few giveaways! You can find more information here.

Introduce yourself! Where are you from? How long have you been blogging?

Hello, Arctic Books readers! I’m Estefani and I blog at Fiction Jungle, I’m a twenty-four year-old Interior Designer from Venezuela. On November 21st of 2015 I decided I wanted to go forward with my blog, I needed an outlet and creating a blog was the perfect way for me. Curious facts about Fiction Jungle: I initially had the idea of having a blog on August 2015 and even posted a review (Vicious!) but never made it public. Another fun fact is that my blog and I share birthdays!

What made you want to start book blogging in the first place?

I was never a big reader, it wasn’t until 2012 that reading really became a habit of mine. By 2015 I needed something to get my mind off work and honestly some of the stuff in my day to day life, I needed to spice things up, to put it that way, and creating a space that was entirely mine was an idea I couldn’t get out of my mind. I could design, I could say what I wanted to say about the books I was reading — all of this stuff in just one place, and in order to keep it alive I just needed to keep reading – yay!

Do you have any bloggers that you look up to? If so, who?

Yes! And they’re my source of constant inspiration. Sara @ Freadom Library, I wish I could post as many reviews as she does! Natasha @ Book Baristas, she’s one of the bloggers who kind of inspired me to finally star my blog and alongside it a Bookstagram. And Maf @ Bookworm Wanders of course, she’s always so honest and raw in all of her social medias, and she, not so recently, created a YouTube channel and you should seriously go check it out!

What goals do you have for your blog and/or yourself?

My most immediate goal for Fiction Jungle is to go self-hosted, I’m still panning but I’m hoping to have it all done around my blogiversary. I’m excited to design it and making 100% me. Another goal of mine is to post reviews more often, it’s hard because I like to take my time to make sure I can put all of my thoughts in each an every one and that others understand exactly how I felt while reading a certain book.

What sorts of posts do you currently incorporate in your blog? What kinds of posts do you want to see more throughout the whole book community?

If you go to my blog you’ll find book reviews, memes such as Top 5 Wednesdays, Top 10 Tuesdays and a couple others. I also like to participate in cover reveals, release blitzes and excerpt reveals.

I think there’s some kind of beauty in going through all the blogs you can find, all so different from one another, and to see everyone’s personality through that is always amazing. I can’t think of a specific thing I’d like to see more of, but there’s always people who come up with great post ideas!

What has been your experience with ARCs (advance reading copies)?

I’ve had the pleasure to interact with authors and those experiences have been nothing short of amazing! I’m always so grateful to have the opportunity to read these advance copies and support my favorite authors as much as I can.

What are your favorite books? What books do you recommend for everyone?

I have a few of course. Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, Millennium (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, in case you were wondering) by Stieg Larsson, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, aaand a gorgeous book called Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta which is my go-to book when someone asks for a book rec, and hey, you should check it out! Here’s my entire Goodreads favorites shelf.

What advice do you have for new book bloggers?

Enjoy! There’s nothing to gain from blogging if you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, you might notice things can get a bit hectic sometimes, but the only thing you need to do is organize yourself and do the things you really love and feel passionate about. And never forget – this is more for myself than for new bloggers – you started a book blog because you love reading!

I’m an Interior Designer and Tapas lover who, honoring George R. R. Martin’s words, is living a thousand lives before dying! A frustrated dog owner – I’ve never been one, seriously someone give me a puppy!
