DEVILS UNTO DUST is the first book I’ve read in months since I’ve been so busy with school and other personal affairs. In all transparency, this book had many awesome, action-packed parts but also fell flat in a few places.

This novel follows Wilcox, or Will, as she travels into the shake (zombie mosters, basically)- territory to find her father with her younger brother and two hunters. The atmosphere was haunting and creepy enough and definitely gave me desert vibes, but I wish it had been more flushed out, maybe in terms of the shake-disease and the origins of it. The plot was incredibly fast-paced, so this book will most likely appeal to lovers of zombie/post-apocalyptic shows and books, like THE MAZE RUNNER and THE WALKING DEAD.

If you love romance, lower your expectations a bit. There is a tinge of romance at the end of the novel, but don’t expect too much kissing throughout the book. This is more focused on action, survival, and family.

Overall, DEVILS UNTO DUST wasn’t a bad read! I do wish that there weren’t so many characters to keep track of, but the novel was fast-paced and perfect for bringing me out of my book slump. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic novels, fighting, zombies, and strong emphasis on family, be sure to pick this one up!
