Today I’m recapping my August and talking about what I read, reviewed, and did in real life. I’m also going to talk about what’s to come on the blog next month!
Unfortunately, my August meant time for school (I started school on the 29th ) and coincidentally also time for a book slump! I spent so long just doing essentially nothing (besides do summer homework and stuff) but I didn’t have a particularly good reading month. August also means ARC August, in which I had hoped to read lots of ARCs but I only read one (lmaoooo).

For 2016, I signed up for 4 year-long challenges. You can see my overall progress here.
THIS MONTH
ARC August | Goal: 16 | 1 read
- KIDS OF APPETITE by David Arnold
August was definitely not my reading month, which is why I didn’t reach my goal for ARC August (lol).
YEAR LONG
Flights of Fantasy | Goal: 20 | 3 read this month
- SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo
- THE CROWN by Kiera Cass
- THE BONE SEASON by Samantha Shannon
Contemporary Romance | Goal: 20 | 0 read this month
- none this month 😦
Debut Author | Goal: 20 | 0 read this month
- none this month 😦
Discussions | Goal: 15 | 0 written this month
- This month was my first blogoversary, so I recapped my blogging year and hosted a giveaway. This giveaway runs until the third of September, so you still have time to enter!
- I participated in a few TTTs: Books with a School Trope, Sneak Peek at my Wishlist, and Releases I’m Dying For.
- I also did the Pokémon Go Book Tag, which Aentee @ Read at Midnight created.
- I posted the first in my new feature, Snapshot Series #1, in which I recapped a road trip to Pittsburgh!
- I also participated in a feature called When I First Saw You and made up a synopsis for The Odds of Lightning.
- If you don’t know already, I’m hosting a new feature called WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD, in which I host 25 fairly new book bloggers on my blog. There will be interviews, guest posts, and giveaways! There’ll be an introduction post on my blog soon, so make sure to check that out!
- I’m also planning on posting another book haul soon… I started using the #booksfortrade hashtag on Twitter, and I’ve found it to be pretty amazing so far. I can’t wait to show y’all what I got!
Great recap post! :))

I love how organised this post is! Such a good way to recap the month. I had an awesome reading month so I was pleased. I can’t believe I still haven’t read Six of Crows though. https://brooklynsippingacupoftea.blogspot.com.au/2016/08/august-wrap-up.html

Slightly late but congrats on your blogoversary! I haven’t been reading at all so I definitely understand having bad reading months. I really liked Six of Crows and absolutely love Throne of Glass, so I’ll definitely check out your review. I hope you have a good September!

August was back to school month for me as well. It led to less time for blogging, and a slight cut back in how much I got to read. But now that I’m a librarian and don’t have papers to grade or lessons to plan anymore, my reading keeps going. I still need to read Bone Season and The Crown. Hope September is a great month for you!

Book slumps are one of my least favorite things ever. They put me in a really down and out mood. Reading is my escape, so when nothing takes me there… it just isn’t a good feeling. I hope September works better for you, in that area! And good luck with your challenges!

It sounds like you had a good reading month, Ali! I read Six of Crows too, and I was skeptical at first, but ended up enjoying it a lot! I haven’t read The Bone Season but I’ve seen it around – did you like it? 🙂
My reading month was good! I returned to blogging and I’ve been getting into the swing of things, which is really nice. My favourite book was Six of Crows, and I quite enjoyed The Rose and the Dagger as well.

It seems like lots of us are in reading slumps
They’re becoming contagious! That’s really cool that you’re starting your own feature though. I’m still trying to figure something out to do for my blog lol. Have a great September!
