Whisper to Me by Nick Lake
Genre: YA Contemporary, Romance
Publication: May 3rd 2016 by Bloomsbury Children’s
Series: n/a
Length: 400 pages
Format: eARC from publisher

A remarkable story of strange beauty and self-discovery from Printz Award winner Nick Lake

Cassie is writing a letter to the boy whose heart she broke. She’s trying to explain why. Why she pushed him away. Why her father got so angry when he saw them together. Why she disappears some nights. Why she won’t let herself remember what happened that long-ago night on the boardwalk. Why she fell apart so completely.

Desperate for his forgiveness, she’s telling the whole story of the summer she nearly lost herself. She’s hoping he’ll understand as well as she now does how love—love for your family, love for that person who makes your heart beat faster, and love for yourself—can save you after all.

WHISPER TO ME was one of my most anticipated books of 2016 because it has a gorgeous cover and a super intriguing synopsis. Undoubtedly, when I got hold of this novel, I dug right in. Overall, I did enjoy this book, although it fell a little flat in the end.

Semi-Hiatus | Why, When, and Other

That’s right; I’m going on a semi-hiatus. I just have so much school-work going on because I’m doing the IB program (International Baccalaureate), and we’re starting on essays for each class and an Extended Essay (which is 4,000 words) and everything’s just crazy.

tumblr_nas761Mu5u1ts9p80o1_500.gif

This hiatus will be throughout the month of May up to the middle of June or whenever I get shit down after finals are over and school is over and I have the time and patience to blog over the summer. I will still have posts going up, such as blog tours that I’ve previously committed to, my previously scheduled posts, and the occasional ARC review from what I’ve requested from publishers, but I’ll definitely be not posting everyday or very constantly.

Still going to miss me? I would, too. Don’t fret; I’ll still be moderately active on Twitter and Instagram, so we can still talk!

In the meantime, since I’m not going to able to have extensive time to write blog posts, I’m in moderately desperate need for guest posts! So if you:

  • have an interest in guest posting and
  • like YA books

please comment below if you’re interested with a twitter @ or email to contact, so we can get into touch!

Thank you all for your understanding!

All my love + appreciation,

Ali

Reading as a Blogger vs. Reading as a Reader | Discussion

Screen Shot 2016-01-24 at 2.58.48 PM

Let’s be real; reading for reviewing is not the same as reading for pleasure. I recently compared what I currently read and what I read before I started blogging, and I noticed that I rated books higher when I read for pleasure than when I read to review, and I enjoyed more books even though in hindsight, which weren’t as enjoyable the first time around.

ARC Review: The Way Back to You by Michelle Andreani & Mindi Scott

The Way Back to You by Michelle Andreani & Mindi Scott
Genre: YA Contemporary, Road Trip, Romance
Publication: May 3rd 2016 by Katherine Tegen Books
Series: n/a
Length: 384 pages
Format: eARC

In this witty, heart-tugging novel, two teens take a spontaneous road trip across the Southwest to meet three strangers who received the life-saving organs of their late best friend—charting a journey of loss, hope, and love along the way.

Six months ago, Ashlyn Montiel died in a bike accident.

Her best friend Cloudy is keeping it together, at least on the outside. Cloudy’s insides are a different story: tangled, confused, heartbroken.

Kyle is falling apart, and everyone can tell. Ashlyn was his girlfriend, and when she died, a part of him went with her. Maybe the only part he cares about anymore.

As the two people who loved Ashlyn best, Cloudy and Kyle should be able to lean on each other. But after a terrible mistake last year, they’re barely speaking. So when Cloudy discovers that Ashlyn’s organs were donated after her death and the Montiel family has been in touch with three of the recipients, she does something a little bit crazy and a lot of out character: she steals the letters and convinces Kyle to go on a winter break road trip with her, from Oregon to California to Arizona to Nevada. Maybe if they see the recipients—the people whose lives were saved by Ashlyn’s death—the world will open up again. Or maybe it will be a huge mistake.

With hundreds of miles in front of them, a stowaway kitten, and a list of people who are alive because of Ashlyn, Cloudy and Kyle just may find their way to back to her…and to each other.

To the Window, To the W(haul)

Screen Shot 2016-03-12 at 1.49.22 PM

So we’re back again with another book haul! I’ve received around 15 books since my last book haul, but not all of them are featured in this post because I forgot to take pictures of them and I already put them away on my shelf.

Anyway, here are the eight books that I’ve acquired since last month! Let’s get started!

I received an ARC of IVORY AND BONE by Julie Eshbaugh from Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles, and it looks fantastic! I think I might be preordering it as well!

I also got an ARC of WHEN WE COLLIDED by Emery Lord. This will be my first Emery Lord novel, so I’m very excited to read it!
