A Letter to My Favorite Book Ever | Review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I had been having some trouble with blogging in general, so when Rachel from Beauty and the Bookshelf came up with an idea of a Blogging Extravaganza, also known as Get Up Offa That Slump (you can check it out here!), I was immediately interested.

One of the post ideas for today was a review (aka general incoherent rambles) of one of my favorite books. Interestingly enough, I’ve never written a review of Shatter Me because I read it before I started blogging, but I thought it was a wonderful idea. Let’s get started!

Dear Shatter Me,

It might be too much to say that I’m in love with you. It also might be weird to say that I’ve read you more than four times in my mere sixteen years and most likely two more times by the end of this year. Although you’re actually more than 300 pages, I fly through those pages so quickly.

I adored the prose. I adored the crossed out lines and the rambling metaphors. I really thought the crossed out lines made for a very convincing story about Juliette’s insanity and how the solitude really changed her. And as we go on, we can see that there’s fewer cross-outs; there’s fewer rambles and repetitive parts, which matches up with the fact that Juliette is getting more time outside and she’s getting free, and I love Tahereh’s style so much.

And the romance! It was steamy and it was adorable. And it was especially angsty in some parts as well. But you’re just going to have to read the rest of the series to find out (and to suffer more). I just loved it so much.  The characters were entwined in so many ways, and reading about all of them was just simply addicting. I loved every part of this book, and especially the characters (especially Warner).

Overall, just read this book. It’s so good. I love it so much. And Warner owns my ass.
