Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Today’s Teaser Tuesday is from:

World After (Penryn & the End of Days #2) by Susan Ee

17849112

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Here’s the teaser:

“It’s not long before the streets are quiet. There weren’t many surviving scorpions to begin with but now, I’m willing to bet there are none.”

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. You can find it here.

[I will also be including standalones that I started by never finished.]

  1. Divergent by Veronica Roth—I just read Divergent and like, half of Insurgent. I left it for too long and I couldn’t get back into it.
  2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins—I read the first book, but rushed through Catching Fire, so I basically didn’t know what happened at all.
  3. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green—I just haven’t had the chance, I suppose.
  4. Paper Towns by John Green—Again, I have only read one book by John Green and it was Looking for Alaska, which wasn’t that bad, actually.
  5. Delirium by Lauren Oliver—I read the first book and DNF the second.
  6. The Maze Runner by James Dashner—I read the first two books, but don’t have the third.
  7. If I Stay by Gayle Forman—I read the first book, and I liked it! I just haven’t had the chance to get my hands on Where She Went.
  8. Matched by Ally Condle—DNF the first book. I’m planning to go back and reread the series one day, though.
  9. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare—Finished the first book but never went past that.
  10. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs—Don’t get me wrong; I absolutely adore Ransom Riggs. I just haven’t had the chance to finish the series.

What about you? Are there any books on my list that you haven’t finished either? Leave a comment with your thoughts!
